The Right to Read
The Lexington-Fayette Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is hosting a special event screening of The Right to Read, a documentary film viewing and live post-film discussion about the literary crisis in America and what we can do about it as a community.
The Right to Read shares the stories of an NAACP activist, a teacher, and two American families who fight to provide our youngest generation with the most foundational indicator of life-long success: the ability to read.
This special event screening and discussion will occur at the Farish Theatre inside the Lexington Public Library Central Downtown Branch.
Please RSVP before the event. Seating capacity is limited to 128 available seats. No further entry will be allowed after the event has reached full seating capacity. Priority seating will go to those attendees who have RSVP'd before the event, after which, any remaining available seating will be open to the public on a first-arrival basis.
The NAACP is at the forefront of the movement to build political power and ensure the well-being of communities of color. Underscoring the advocacy of our 2,200 local units across the country, we empower our communities to make democracy work for them.
Your donation to the NAACP helps further our mission to ensure the political, educational, social and economic equality of rights of all persons, and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.
Donor support like yours helps to support the work we do in the General Assembly and the community. As the oldest civil rights organization in the country, the NAACP is there working on mass incarceration, education, economic opportunities, fighting voter suppression, and protecting the environment.
Your generosity and participation allow us to continue to support scholarships, NAACP social justice work, community advocacy, and advocacy training initiatives and programming.
We Thank You for Your Commitment and Support!
